At the A & S meeting tonight I mentioned that we needed to start working on site tokens and Geri said that she thought someone was making them... this was news to both Elk and me as neither of us has talked to anyone about doing this. If someone has volunteered to make site tokens this year, could you please let Elk and me know so we don't duplicate efforts.

Thank you.

I asked around, no token information, sorry. I know i heard it in January meeting. Maybe we should move forward with doing our own, unless someone can refresh my memory as to what was said, I know it was a conversation amoung ppl i was talking to, that is as far as i can remember. Sorry, We have lots of token in shire stuff, not sure they will work for this years event.

Sorry don't know a thing about tokens, frankly dont really see the need for them as no one ever checks to make sure people have them in the first place. And while I am on the subject and have the Northwatch siting in front of me I am unable to find Quest in it. What page is it on, am I blind or whats going on? I need to confirm the dates to get the time off from work. Need to know other info as well, site fees, camping fees and so on. Can some one please help I have other people asking me and am unsure what to tell them.

Here is the site that has the dates and camping fees, did not see what the SCA fees would be.

Curiuos if the SCA fees are set in stone if so what might they be? Thank you.

We're only entitled to free publication for two months, so the ad was not in the March Northwatch. It should be in the April and May publications.

Dates are May 13 – 16, 2010.

Site opens at noon on Thursday, May 13, and closes at noon on Sunday, May 16

No Merchant Fee

Site Fees: 0-5 - free; 6-15 yrs - $5.00; 16 and up - $10.00

Non-members please add $5.00 nonmember surcharge

Camping fees: $10.00 per night for one tent

$13.00 per night for multiple tents used by the same family

Dogs: Tent Camping - $8.00 per dog for the entire event; Cabins - $8.00 per dog, per night

Horses: $7.50 per horse for the entire event

Owners are responsible for feed and care. Water available on site.

I have a concern about the fees for Quest. I think they are high and I don't see a family cap. By the fees you have posted, for John and Jennett it will cost them $80.00 before tax for what is bassicly a three day event (2 main days). Norm's family will be $89.00 + tax. Paul, Geri, the girls & 1 dog will be $79.00 + tax + cabin.
I think we will drive people away with high prices when people are having a hard time making ends meet. I dont see the need to charge a fee for anyone under 14 as they can not take part in most SCA activities until that time. We have tried prices like this in the past and they backfired on us. A large number of our own people will not be able to attend the event or they may day trip.
There is a conflict with the Northwatch and the website when it comes to pets. Northwatch says $8.00 per night and the web says $10.00 per nigth per pet.
Is there anything we can do?

Non Member surcharge goes up to $5.00 in July so The $5.00 is incorrect. not anything we have any control over anyway. Pet fees are no different than last year. if anything the pet fee for cabins is $2.00/day cheaper than last year.

as for family cap there is no mention of their being or not being one. I am fairly certain that was just an ommission. we are trying to contact Elk and Juli against our better judgement while they are trying to deal with alot of family stuff in another state to get an answer on the family cap.

As for the site fees themselves, we have been complaining for about 6 months how the shire keeps losing money. Since the only way we as a shire make any money to pay our operating expenses is through event site fees, then the only reasonable way to increase the money coming in is charge more.

last year 16+ was 8.00 6-15 waas $4.00 5 and under was free. there was no family cap last year.

So basically the only change from last year is a $2.00 increase in adult site fees and $1.00 for the kids.

confirmed there is a family cap of $50.00

family defined as 1 level of parent child relationship.

so, my grandaughters would not qualify me for the family cap. nor should it.

Just as an aside. I can do pewter ones and bring them with me since I get to come this year. They can be done cheaply. Last years were expensive because they were specific and large due to the 20yr. theme.

To Thorgrum: Out here a lot of people collect the cool site tokens...which is one reason to make them and make them special. Otherwise I agree...even at Estrella mine was never checked.

Thanks Paul, didn't remember what we did last year. I know there are items that are set by the Ranch, and yes nothing we can do about that. I just looked at it the other day and it seemed high but if its what we did last year then cool with me. Just a little freeked about money these days, as is everyone.

And I have some cool site tokens from years ago to and the remind me of the events. The bead on a piece of yarn gets a little old, but we should do something at the very least.

Cool see you all there,
Thorgrim
